I'm seeing a similar (possibly the same?) bug. We just updated our install this week, so I presume that we have D12116.

After T7849 (in review), there's a sort of kludgey workaround for this that has some caveats but should get you 90% of the way there:

We don't have plans to pursue this in the upstream, being able to make dashboard panels by column would likely solve most use cases here.
Please see https://secure.phabricator.com/book/phabcontrib/article/feature_requests/ and state the what you are trying to do with Workboards and we can look into solutions.

To make this a bit more concrete:
Perfect. Thanks, @chad.
T4778 covers when things will naturally be built. Roadmap is what we're current working on. If you have immediate need and wish to pay us to build this feature, you can with our no risk Paid Prioritization.
@epriestley: Hello. I'm afraid I don't know what your triage/assignment process is, but is it possible to learn if or when this trigger functionality will get implemented? Like @michaeloa, this functionality would make phabricator considerably more useful for us as a project management tool, and thus would be much appreciated.

This is resolved for Conpherence, Workboards. May move the warning later into Notifications, or equivalent.
This is also an issue in Conpherence, see T7566.

I don't expect this to meaningfully impact performance unless we end up with a really fancy animation when cards fly around.
I think there are two major product questions:
Quick note, that performance would be my biggest concern as an end-user.
When we were using Trello, it would frequently cause my (firefox) browser to "freeze" for 30-60 seconds at a time, whilst medium to large size boards were loading, and dragging cards around was usually sluggish-feeling. e.g. https://trello.com/b/k5N0ivoM/research-and-data
Versus my experience with Phabricator so far, which has been that medium size boards load quite rapidly, and dragging cards around feels quite responsive. e.g. (1,600+ cards) https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/tag/flow/
I'd guess the simple version (just a "something on this workboard has changed" notification) is about 2 hours of work, and needs to happen first anyway.
Would you be able to give a rough estimate for paid prioritization of this task?

We don't plan to support that. See T5474.
it would also be great if task's board column name could be used in Herald rule.
Mar 26 2015
Presuming resolved, but let me know if that didn't actually fix it. D12116 has some more specific discussion.
OK, I've managed to reproduce this issue. It only happen in the "Sort by priority" view (not in the "Natural" view).

It would be nice to add such informations, specially on manifest.info
Mar 16 2015
Heh ok, sorry for bugging you.
Hey, just wondering if you guys were still planning on doing this. It would be nice to have a way to track the expected complexity of a task for planning purposes and being able to assign points would be great for that.

My rough hope for the future was allowing Project "apps" to be enabled/disabled, which would make the links go away. So you'd have by default "Calendar" "Tasks" "Workboards" (maybe "Wiki") as enabled, and if you could edit the project, you could turn those items off with a checkbox, and they just wouldn't exist for that project.
Hey everybody,
Just to make sure we're on the same page, here's the expected behavior:
This problem is more relevant now that project tags and search suggestions point to workboards by default, instead of the default project page as before.

Hm, never mind. Now it works. I'm not sure what happened earlier today. Will pay more attention if I have problems again.
Is it just me, or the new workboards have brought a regression?

Additionally, it would be nice to allow "one week ago" to work as well.
Definitely interested in seeing additional projects for a task on the workboard.

You need to set notification.enabled to true in your config.

Closing out, given space concerns, I don't imagine adding this information in the header. If you can let us know what core problem you are having with Workboards, perhaps another solution exists.

See T5474 for taking actions based on column changes.
Real-time updates are only part of the issue with workboards. We need to be able to change state of the ticket based on which column they are moved too. So that is probably more workflow control or triggered events. We should be able to build this out with the API.

(whoops, read Chad's comment from feed and didn't see he had this link already as I posted it.. haha.)
I don't believe we have plans around this. Can you be more specific on the problems you are having with Workboards? In general we prefer feature requests state problems, as other solutions might already work.

Er... true, and thank you for reminding me about my own tasks submitted. :D
https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T1284 sounds more like T5024
Attached diff allows for batch edits of all tasks in a workboard column (only all, no selection possible). And please note that you have to reload the board when you make column moves and want to batch edit afterwards!
Very handy to close all tasks in a column or add/remove a project.

I can reproduce it in both Chrome and Firefox on Windows, and my co-worker was having the same problem on Firefox on Mac. (I can also send a video if the problem is that my description isn't great.)
@ahoffer2: What browser are you using? That sounds insanely annoying, but I can't reproduce it immediately.
Ah -- I'm on Windows, and the keyboard arrows thing is a useful trick, thanks! but ~99% of our users are on Mac, so it doesn't really help the rest of the company as much. It would be good if the drag and drop operation just put the card on the bottom of the destination column even if there's no card directly above it, that would resolve the issue.
Are you perhaps using a Mac? Our OSX users seem to have (as an average) more difficulties moving cards to areas out of their current windows, one factor being that keyword arrows won't help (which is what at least in Linux works flawlessly).
One problem we have that causes this is:
Dec 11 2014
We don't plan to support this. We plan to support column triggers instead, see T5474.
This is more annoying than it seemed initially. It is quite normal that users want to place a new task in their right column right after creating it (or right after someone has created it). Since no "Backlog" link is available in the task, you always need to go first to project, then to workboard, unless you bother about retrieving the final URL via browser history.
Dec 9 2014
Now: a pop-up notification appears when another user has changed the workboard.
Sorry to repeat this question (as it has remained unanswered so far), but a reply would help us a lot when it comes to acceptance among teams and further planning ahead:
