A couple of narrow ideas here:
the message is sent from inside applyFinalEffects(), which is still inside the transaction

See PHI970, which identifies an issue with containerPHID not being populated correctly on a subset of buildables.

I'm going to start landing this stuff now. master will start complaining about unsafe queries all over the place (although much less frequently than it was when I first added the warning). Depending on how much complaining still exists on Friday I might make the warning developer-only, but I'm currently hopeful that I can clean up most of it before the next release promotes.

Let's try again in another couple of years, maybe the notification system will select a more appropriate start time for all-day events by then!
The alert poped up just now (5pm, end-of-day), but this was a whole-day event! We missed the whole thing!

I would like to add another use case where this would be beneficial.

@epriestley we are using the "menu item" solution that you described above, and the primary remaining pain point is that when you click on a link, the menu highlights "workboard", which confuses some users, because they expect the link (i.e. the menu item they just clicked on) to be highlighted.
See PHI943. The bin/repository thaw --promote operation and/or the version bumping after a write can currently misbehave in the presence of disabled nodes with larger versions. When we increment the version, we should bump it past the largest version of any node, not just any enabled node.

I think everything here is now fully cycled, synchronized, and cleaned up.
Taking care of these now. I expect everything to be pretty routine.

Awesome, thanks @epriestley!

P2110 has a very rough cut of this.
Sorry! That reproduces cleanly for me too. I must have made a mistake following the reproduction steps or overlooked something. D19768 should fix this.
