FWIW we'd be perfectly fine with the following:
- allow editing phriction documents via Conduit
- create a panel which shows the contents of a specific phriction page
FWIW we'd be perfectly fine with the following:
The actual panel transactions that we need to update for this aren't too bad. The board transactions are a little more involved, but we can skip them.
but yeah, a spacer could help too
That sounds good to me, should give us more clarity around the dashboard stuff.
Maybe I should just design out my dock idea, the dock then goes with Dashboards (admins can set the apps, etc).
When you're editing a homepage dashboard, just having a spacer bar there for the applications menu might help make it more clear that 66/33 is better in a lot of cases than 50/50 -- currently, you can't see what stuff will really look like until you're already done and installed.
I think some sort of logged out / open source public template would head off like the majority of these. I think I had a plan in another thread.
wow pretty sure I even picked numbers that add up to 100%
I definitely think we should skip the 3-column versions for now, I don't think we've seen any kind of need for them in practice. We could look at it again after Facts since I think some of these weirder things could make more sense on standalone dashboards, the app just isn't powerful enough yet for that to be paritcularly useful.

The other solution is just to make it so these are more hidden / advanced options. That the defaults we provide are good enough that users just modify those templates instead of making one from scratch.
Do you think 50/50 and 33/66 are always bad even for standalone (not-on-homepage) dashboards? e.g., if we had a "Phacility Metrics" dashboard in the future after Facts, a 50/50 of a "Users" column and "Revenue" column or whatever could never be a useful way to present the information?
My rough thinking for new homepage is roughly consisting of three things:
Haha, that's probably T10612.
Babel seems to have the same panel in both columns, too.
The problem with 50/50 layouts is they don't guide the user anywhere as to what is important. It basically says, everything is important and conversely, is difficult to follow the page since panels just appear everywhere.
Why do you think installs (offhand: Babel, WMF) are picking 1/2 + 1/2 if they're strictly worse than 2/3 + 1/3?
No, no I can't. I can't make a Phriction Panel.
I might be able make a Phriction Panel
Ah, ok, that was my fault. I actually had no saved querys, so I didn't see that option ;) Thanks for helping :)
Going to close merge this into T5307 which makes query -> panel more discoverable. Dashboard panels can run any saved query, not just built-ins.
Here's a Dashboard Panel with "Phacility" tagged Events.
Doesn't Calendar already offer this today?
Create a custom query inside Phriction, save it, then go to Dashboards and make a Panel with that query.
Thank you we basically created two projects to group the members into those two projects and i removed myself and only stayed in one and that seemed to kind of work. I see only the files i expected but also some deleted files history that is greyed out. It would be nice to have an easy place to put custom queries to be used for each of the apps but I love Phabricator so keep up the good work thanks.
Your best workaround for now is multiple text panels for each organization.
T11161 is the follow up for Dashboards
I'll create a separate task to re-think Panel creation UI.
You're not creating a custom query, at least in that screenshot. The query is "All Documents", which is what you're getting.
I saw this today, we just created a new panel
Mystery Query: Where is this coming from?
My tentative plan here is:
For localization, I'd expect to customize timezone and Time format (24/12 hours), and maybe "Week Starts On".
+1 to what Eitan said. The first two of those for sure. The first means we have this horrendous patch in place today in order to make it happen so we don't flood everyone with email :)
We want to be able to set
Current "Homepage" in general is not long for this world. We'll get rid of current hardcoded homepage, and build stuff from Dashboards / PanelNavs I imagine.
Being able to change the default set of applications shown on the side panel would be really useful for us. Not sure if this was split off though.
As a sanity check here before I actually build it, is anyone who is interested in configuring global default settings interested in configuring any settings other than mail-related settings? Or is this just T9161 in an alternate form, practically speaking?
In T10855#172123, @chad wrote:A Phriction Panel which we talked about briefly would provide this automagically without wiring Dashboards to Conduit.
We would be okay with this too.
We aren't really sold on this as a specific use case, but can give you a modern dashboard.panel.edit which will let you implement it. If there are weird followups arising from this (like difficulty managing the 300,000 transactions on the panel detail a year from now) we may be somewhat less sympathetic to them than we would be to a more on-label use case.
