FWIW this behavior has also caused data loss on our team more than once. I'll usually trigger it when I'm going to insert a backtick somewhere in the task description to block off pseudocode and I fat-finger Esc instead.

(From our own install's perspective) I don't think the would make anyone at all sad. It seemed to be a pretty random decision by one of our newer users while he was playing around with things.

Source code isn't (AFAIK) stored in Phabricator's databases; it only lives at /var/repo/ and whatever other URIs you're mirroring/observing in Diffusion. But again, if you're just looking for commit-level metadata, using Conduit will probably be easier.

If you really want to muck around in Phabricator's databases, you could probably get at the information you mentioned with something similar to
