Feed stories render excerpts from comments, descriptions, etc., which are often remarkup. While we don't want to render some remarkup elements (like images, macros, embedded slowvotes, cowsay, etc.), formatting and inline elements are appropriate to render. T3278 discusses applying similar rendering elsewhere, and T2617 discusses infrastructure support.
