Currently the original recurring event is editable, and its ghost events are not. This should flipped around. Recurring events should advise users that a recurring event can not be edited, and should be ended and a new one created to replace it. Ghost events should be editable in that an edited ghost event should be converted to a standalone event and live as an exception in the sequence of ghost events.
