Conpherence threads don't specify the day they are created
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Timestanps in Conpherence use this format specifying hh:mm only:

Via Web · 6:37 PM

The date of creation of a Conpherence thread is not presented anywhere in the page. When the thread is updated in a following day, the new date is shown, but the original one is still missing.

Regardless of the obvious bug, I wonder whether it would be better to keep consistency with Maniphest, Feed, etc, where the timestamps are complete and it is easy to spot when each entry was logged:

Mon, May 11, 7:09 AM

The short timestamps are mostly for consistency with the chat column, where we have less space:

Did you specifically want to know the room creation date, or just the date for the first batch of messages?

If the room creation date is important to know for some reason, we should probably find a better way to expose it, since it would be hard to figure out for rooms with even a few thousand messages if you have to scroll back through all of them.

If you just want to know the date of the first messages, either getting one of these dividers to render at the very top:

...or making sure an "X created this room" transaction always renders and giving it a full datestamp might be reasonable approaches.

I'm just concerned about the dates of first posts. I have a couple of conversations that happened in a single day, and now there is no way to tell when was that day.

Yeah, we should have some date indication of the first transaction.

Another thought here, we could add the date as a tooltip on the time.

I'll add / modify some first transaction with the full date and play around with tooltips, etc.
