Description

Phacility use case - someone is already paying for hosting and wants to change the payment method.

Post D10652 it seems this can only be changed now as part of the checkout process, but its unclear how to do this for something like Phacility where the bill is coming again later?

If you don't have automatic payment set up, choose a different payment method the next time you manually pay the invoice.

If you do have automatic payment set up, you can change the method on the same screen you configured the payment method originally:

  • admin.phacility.comInstances(Your Instance)Subscription DetailsEdit SubscriptionAutopay With...

Oh, okay, cool. Thanks!

I think the usability issue here is that from the admin.phacility.com home page you have Instances, Billing, Documentation, Support.

"Billing" doesn't seem like its useful to end users anymore? (Or at least needs some re-jiggering so this billing updating scenario is more discoverable)

Not sure how important smoothing this is, but my sense is it can wait for some other admin.phacility.com work to build up since the workflow here is rare and is possible.

You can get here via Billing > Subscriptions > Instance.

Billing also lets you review invoices across your whole account, manage payment methods, and add or remove authorized users.

I think the surprising thing here is that we let you put each subscription on a different payment method, which is more powerful but maybe never useful. We could have a default account-wide autopay instead or in addition to this.

You can also use "Return to Subscription" from an invoice/order directly, although it's in a sort of unusual place (upper right corner) that we don't use very often in other applications. My intent was to make it more visible, but maybe it's actually less visible.

The "start in Billing" workflow for me is

  • admin.phacility.comBilling(Click Correct Account)Scroll to Subscriptions Section(Click Correct Subscription)Edit SubscriptionAutopay With...
