Conpherence custom image refinements
Closed, WontfixPublic

Description

Conpherence has custom images again, but maybe the UI around setting this stuff isn't the best.

From full conpherence, when editing title, policy, etc you can drag and drop a new image as well as crop the existing image. The drag and drop is cool, but the crop feels a little silly in practice.

Maybe instead

  • no crop ability? instead just say that its 35px X 35px?
  • and / or offer one of those "icon generator" type UIs like we do for projects?

For T7707, I'd tentatively like to do this:

  • Get rid of the crop UI.
  • Use the standard 100x100 "profile" transform that we do for projects/people.
  • Scale 100x100 images down to 50x50 or 35x35 in the UI with background-size rules.

Then maybe in the future add a generator UI, and maybe add crop tools on all workflows in a central way.

Does that seem reasonable? Does the crop seem useful enough to build in a general way now, and/or does a generator UI feel valuable enough to do right away rather than push off?

Everything on Your list seems reasonable, however Generator UI is expected. Everytime somebody creates a room for project on our install for specific project, I have to explain that they should save project image and then D&D that to settings modal.

Bullets sound great. I am not sure on generator UI but my guess and the first user testimonial are that its expected.

Oh, crop stuff seems not useful to me. I think its best / reasonable to do image edits like that outside of the website.

More accurately, this stuff would be awesome, just building / supporting it versus the user alternative of busting out photoshop or paint or what have you isn't worth it.

Yeah, completely agreed.

epriestley edited projects, added Conpherence (v4); removed Conpherence.
chad claimed this task.

What we have currently seems fine.
