When you assign a task, it is not your task it is that persons task. Only your items show on your homepage. You will be notified when it is closed.

"Resolved" "Invalid" and "Spite" are all types of closed tasks. If you wish to modify the language, you can change the settings under Maniphest in the Config Application.
