workboard horizontal scroll wonky on ie11
Closed, InvalidPublic

Description

Steps

  1. In IE11, go to a workboard with 6 boards
    • some of them have vertial scroll bars resulting in the page having a vertical scroll bar
    • maximized window of 1920x1200 desktop resolution
  2. Simple left-click anywhere on the bottom horizontal scroll bar (empty or marker), watch the screen jump back and forth horizontally and your mouse is now stuck in "drag" mode on that scroll bar. Clicking and draggong on the marker produces same effect but only once you left go of the left-button.

Clicking in empty space on the workboard and "dragging" works properly. It is only when you try to interact with the bottom horizontal scrollbar that things go wrong.

Horizontal Scroll bar on workboards work great in chrome, so the behaviour we're seeing is only on ie11.

What OS should I be testing?

We were able to consistently replicate it on multiple Windows 7 64-bit IE 11.0.9600.17843 (11.0.20) and Windows 7 32-bit IE 11.0.9600.18204 (11.0.28) workstations.

I can't reproduce the issue you're describing. Maybe make a video to clarify the specific behaviour?

This the browser I tested:

pasted_file (347×424 px, 54 KB)

Please see attached .wmv file. I used a technet video capture utility as it was quick and did the job, sorry the quality is not higher but it should do the job.

In it you can see me

  • 00:00 - 00:12 clicking on an empty spot on the horizontal scroll bar and despite letting go of left-click it being "stuck" in drag mode.
  • 00:13 - 00:25 dragging the scroll bar marker to a specific spot and letting go of left-click and it "snapping back" to the original position, then being "stuck" in drag mode.
  • 00:26 - 00:29 you can see me clicking-dragging on an empty space in the workboard itself and it properly allowing me to scroll and letting go with no sticky drag effect
  • 00:30 - 00:33 you can see me using arrow keys to scroll sideways and it working properly
  • 00:34 - 00:43 finally you can see me click an empty spot on the horizontal scroll bar again and getting the "snapping back" effect and the "stuck" drag mode.

Please let me know of any other info you require.

Thanks for the video, unfortunately I still can't reproduce the issue locally. Everything works for me.

Added time markers as it isn't clear what I'm doing with mouse/keyboard without a visual cue.

I should add that when I am "stuck" in drag mode (no mouse buttons held down, but moving it around scroll me around like I am click-dragging), I can do a fast left-click on an empty spot on the workboard and it becomes unstuck.

Should note that with the test video I posted, I was able to replicate with a brand new workboard with 5 extra columns (6 total) with zero tasks on them, so the vertical scroll bar has no impact on it.

I've now been able to replicate this problem on 3 different setups:

  • Windows 7 Professional 32-bit (6.1.7601) IE11 (11.0.9600.17843) built by a dev
  • Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit sp1 IE11 (11.0.9600.17843, 11.0.20) built by a dev
  • Windows 7 Enterprise 32-bit sp1 IE11 (IE 11.0.9600.18204 (11.0.28) built by corporate IT

If you have a 6+ panel workboard online that I could test with my home windows 10 ie11 setup, I could give that a shot too, but my work win7ie11 setup is not public facing.

http://phacility.com can still up a clean test instance in under a minute.

Can't find a means to reproduce this locally and haven't seen other reports. Can revisit if either of those change.

All I needed to test on my home comp's ie as well was access to a 6 column workboard here, but I felt paying 20$ to use phacility was a little steep to keep the bug open.

I'll re-test on our private network w/ latest phab soon, who knows maybe it's fixed.
