Being able to manage project membership, ideally by tying it to an ldap group, is a HUGE gap in nearly all the opensource git software. This feature is a requirement for every shop I've ever worked in. Best practices are a single source of truth and RBAC dictates need for entitlements. LDAP groups are easy way to meet these requirements and not waste a lot of time managing git entitlements differently from other tools in the ecosystem.
