Link in Documentation Does Not Exist
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Hi,
The link https://phabricator.example.com/oauthserver/client/create/ mentioned in step 1 of the "Setup-Creating a Client" section of the documentation page "Using the Phabricator OAuth Server" (https://secure.phabricator.com/book/phabcontrib/article/using_oauthserver/) does not exist. Is there an updated version of that link?

Thanks

  • One possible cause of this is the application not being installed. If so, the documentation should make this more clear.
  • Another possible cause is the active link to phabricator.example.com being confusing.
  • The current modern approach to communicating how to get places is to use the {nav X > Y} element to show the user how to navigate: Applications โ†’ OAuth Server โ†’ Create Application. This is more resistant to UI/URI changes and teaches the user how to use the application.

That is an example URI and would be different for your Phabricator installation. For example, for this installation, https://phabricator.example.com/oauthserver/client/create/ is https://secure.phabricator.com/oauthserver/client/create/

Basically, phabricator.example.com should be different for your installation.

I think we use this sort of pattern throughout the documentation. Do you have suggestions on how we could make it more clear?

Oh whoops, I guess I took awhile to submit that comment and missed the update notification. :/

Thanks for the clarification. I thought it was an example website that you guys had as a demo.
