Can't import repositories on local machine
Closed, InvalidPublic

Description

Hey, trying out phabricator on local dev server, can't get Diffision to import any repos. It's stuck at "Importing 0.0% complete" with the daemon running from CLI, triggered every 15 seconds. I've setup GitHub as an auth option with apparently working client secret etc., and prioritised the update to no effect. The /var/repo folder exists with 777 permissions (for testing). Subfolders in that dir exist but /branches folder is empty for each repo.

Trying to browse a repo gives the following error:

Command failed with error #128! COMMAND git log --skip=0 -n 101 --pretty=format:'%H:%P' '8a6eb9edb863d32241d1d98205bad0c1f5b57fe0' -- STDOUT (empty) STDERR fatal: Not a git repository (or any of the parent directories): .git

Is this just because I'm on a local machine with no publicly reachable domain name?

We don't have enough information to reproduce this.

  • Being on a local machine should not matter; we all develop on local machines which aren't publicly routable.
  • At HEAD, we provide slightly more information about some types of failures, so it's possible that updating may give you a clue about this.
  • The expectation is that directories in /var/repo will always be complete clones of remote repositories, created by the daemons. If they aren't, something is going wrong with the initial clone. It is possible that removing the directory will give you a more useful error when the daemons try to reclone it.

Feel free to refile or reopen if you get more information, but as-is we're unable to reproduce this.
