Show only unread notifications in notification baloon
Closed, WontfixPublic

Description

When I click on fire icon next to Phabricator logo in header I can see all notifications, including ones I've already read. Because of this clicking on "Mark All Read" link there makes no change to the list, because all notifications I see are read anyway.

I propose to display only unread notifications in that balloon.

We're not interested in pursuing this in the upstream as the information is useful regardless of if it's been read or not. It's also consistent with how other notification systems work (Facebook, Twitter, etc). Thanks for the feedback.

Isn't having "Mark as Read" link on list of already read notifications controversial? Usually when people click on something, then something should happen/change, but it doesn't in this case.

Also I believe, that in Notifications app the "Unread Notifications" query should be default, not "All Notifications" as it is now.

Maybe removing that link if it won't do anything would be a good idea.

You may modify your instance of Phabricator via forking or patching to suite your individual needs.

That part is already configurable. I've changed it, but thought that this would be positive change for everybody. I guess not.

I know that you guys have very complex criterias used to decide whatever to change or not to change proposed stuff. I guess I just have to live with it.
