Chat notifier on the top header doesn't go off even after message is read
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The chat notification fails to stop notifying even after the message is read. The notification goes off only after it is clicked upon. This can confuse a user into believing that he has new messages.

Can you please provide more explicit reproduction instructions? (This actually works for me the way(s) I use Conpherence, so your particular workflow(s) are exhibiting the issue and are critical to fixing it.)

Thanks!

Also, please ensure your install is at HEAD when reproducing

btrahan claimed this task.

Please do re-open with reproduction instructions if this issue persists for you at HEAD. Thanks!

Sorry for the delay.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Log into conpherence1
  2. Have anyone send you a message on conpherence2.
  3. If you refresh the page, you'll see that the chat notifier is in blue indicating you have a notification.
  4. Read the message by selecting conpherence2 from the left pane where the conpherences are listed.
  5. The chat notifier doesn't go off, still blue for me.

Note: This is not the case if you are messaged on the same conpherence that you are currently on.
Found this while using https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/conpherence/

These steps don't reproduce for me at HEAD. Assume it's resolved and Wikimedia is behind HEAD (we've been putting a lot of hours into Conpherence over the past month).

I say "We", but I mean @btrahan, because @btrahan is a Conpherence building machine.

Looking forward to using the updated Conpherence. Kudos to all those working behind Conpherence. I guess this task can be closed now.
