undefined error when selecting a chat from conpherence dropdown while persistent column open

Description

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start on main page
  2. Open persistent column via \
  3. Select a chat from the original conpherence dropdown (next to the notifications bell)
  4. Undefined

Let me know if any more info would be useful or having trouble reproducing.

Does not seem to occur without persistent column open

FWIW, it happened in the task creation workflow as well when I hit submit on this task.

This is really just a prototype, when we've officially closed the task, then we'll consider it shipped. For now, it's expected to be bugasaurus-rex.
